Baba Ramdev in Frankfurt

It was Baba Ramdev ji first day in Germany and Frankfurt and we were lucky to be the volunteers for the event.

Sitting besides him it was difficult to imagine that this humble man cloaked in saffron clothes has taught humility to the most powerful and arrogant political famiy of India.

It was Baba Ramdev ji mistreatment at ramlila ground, when he asked for strong laws for black money that made me ( a completely apolitical person then)deeply critical of congress government.

At the event, he invited youths to do yoga with him on stage and i was first to leap forward. Despite me doing active and regular yoga since years it was difficult to match his pace.!

His agile and youthful body is a living example of what possibilities practise of yoga can do to mind and body. Its impossible to deduce from Baba Ramdev body that he is not a youth in late 30s but a 50 year old saint.

We recently saw what energy and vitality was shown by our youthful prime minister despite being on fast and only drinking water for more than 5 days.

Jaya to ancient land of India. Jaya to ancient yogis who have given this beautiful technique which if practised correctly and with proper attitude can reveal God to a human.

Landmark ADVICE by SC of India

On the basis of the case filed in 2004, when a petitioner sought the removal of Lalu Prasad Yadav as minister, A welcome advise from the SC of India to the PM and CM has come today.

Sometimes in the name of coalition politics even well meaning politicians have to include corrupt people in cabinet. With this advise from the SC bargaining would be difficult for coalition partners.

Politically motivated criminal cases makes it difficult to have a blanket ban on all with criminal cases, discretion should be used. And thats what SC has mentioned in this landmark "advise".

Hope SC will not be pushed to its limits and our state and central leadership make amends and use their discretion.

P.S : Not every person who has cases against him is a criminal. Even the most honest man on the Milky way "Arvind Kejriwal" has many criminal cases against him.

Integrity of a Civil Servant saved our country

Thanks to this "Civil Servant" and his impeccable integrity, crimes of UPA govt came out in public domain.

Thanks to a decisive vote against corruption, Today we have a government which recognises honesty and whose leader says & practices "Na khaaonga na khaane doonga". Hopefully Civil servants will take steps to minimise corruption so that fruits of development reach to the poor and downtrodden.

Preventing Criminals from entering parliament ! Whats the way out ?

Criminals and Politicians have been unseperable for me since i have opened my eyes. Both Criminals and politicians benefit from each others clout. Even talking statistically "One in four lok saba MP has a criminal case against him" ! This is too big a figure to ignore. And this is just statistics from lok sabha , state assemblies have not been considered.

Having said that , It is easy for politician to have criminal cases against him. As sometimes even political opponents may also lodge false cases against their adversary for political vendetta.

I was wondering what can be done in these cases ? Should a person who have even a single criminal complaint against him be barred from fighting the elections ?

Doing that would be against the fundamental right of the person as until convicted you are and should be  considered non guilty.

Thankfully Supreme court has come to out rescue with its two landmark judgements.


1. Now any politicians who is convicted for more than 2 years will automatically loose his lok sabha seat.
2. Supreme court has set its deadline of one year for trial of lawmakers MPs and MLAs!

In my considered opinion above laws if followed thorougly would greatly clean politics and are sufficient.What do you think ?

Initiative of Gujarat Government

Great Initiative by Gujarat government! This is quiet innovative

Advantages of this would be 

1. Police would not ask bribe to register FIR as otherwise complainant would leave a video message. (Similar to Escalation in corporate world)

2. Police fearing escalation would be humane!

Nice use of technology to minimise corruption and to make life of AAM Admi effortless ! any other benefits you can think ?

I would further suggest that even during normal FIRs statements be video recorded and this would ensure that Justice delivery system is swift. Anybody caught lying on Video can be prosecuted for lying in front of court

Dear Shree Markandey Katju,

Thanks for your articles on recent political situations in India. I read your article and your appeal to not cast my franchise for selecting modi. following are my comments.

Anna, Ramdev movements circus shows, says Katju

Few months ago when i read your article in which you compared Anna and Ramdev's anti corruption protests with circus shows  i was shocked that someone of your stature could say such things about the movement which has country wide appeal. Almost Everone who was not beneficiary of corruption lead support to the movement.

Baba Ramdev's fast against corruption was violently crushed even before it could start and it was a slap on the face of  our constitutional right of freedom of speech and protest. The present Govt which can be easily be given  a honorary degree of  D.Lit  in scams went even further and muzzled voices speaking against it. Sir people like me have no axe to grind but we are really concerned about the state of our country, it hurts when people of your eminence discredit the voice of people and our effort to rebuild India. 

Sir voices like yours provide succor to the govt which is being battered from all sides. Govt has now  resolved to buy opinion by doling out 100 crore which some of us call as "Twitter NREGA".
So congratulations fellow Indians we will soon have paid social media too in addition to paid media. People will soon be airing views of the govt for money. In addition to it those who speak against corruption CBI investigations are being set up against them as a tool of vendetta as a gift for nationalism.

Sir i further would like to say that i also do not agree with your observations on Gujarat riots.

Sir how can you fail to understand that Gujarat has had a history of Riots in 1969, 1985, 1991 and 1993.  Riots happened for one reason or the other and so did the 2002 Godhra.  The  Supreme Court supervised SIT too ruled that Mr Modi did his best to save the lives of Human beings.   The provocation which lead to riots was so intense that hundreds of people (read Hindus) had to be shot dead by police to contain the riots.  Infact thousand of lives were saved due to strong resolve of Narendra Modi to contain the riots. Paid Media which is responsible for branding Narendra Modi had also to report this incident in which thousands of lives were saved.  Sir, Modi as communal is an image planted by media on the directions of its political masters , today we can see through it. 

Sir, you went further and compared Narendra Modi with Hitler,  Hitler was guided by extreme ideology of "hate towards Jews" however Narendra Modi is guided by ideology of Swami Vivekananda.  I am sure a person of your knowledge knows the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. Inspired with the philosophy and life of Swami Vivekananda, Modi ji left his home in early youth and joined RSS. He has worked hard all these years to raise the standard of people across Gujarat.  Shree Modi believes in the ideology of development of all communities and does not indulge in appeasement but empowerment.  A change is happening in the Indian politics after so many decades where elections are being fought on development issues rather than cast.

Sir, you yourself said that 90% of Indians are fool and vote on the basis of cast and creed. Modi has changed the trend.  Last election in Gujarat was fought on development issues. Today the mass appeal that he has got is due to his development work being recognised by people of India.  I have got some muslim friends in Gujarat and they too have joined the chorus of "Modi for PM" thus refuting your observations that Muslim live amongst fear. 

You also doubted development happened in Gujarat and compared Gujarat with some other states of country. Sir why did you not compare Gujarat with Germany ?  I think it would be fair if we compare current state of Gujarat with what it was 10 years ago.  Sir  the mass appeal that this leader has got is only due to recognition of the work that he has done.  Modi has been selected as CM of Gujarat for the third time consecutively. Is this not  recognition of his work. 

And voting for the present government which is neck deep in corruption and is epitome of arrogance and inefficiency it would be tantamount to betraying my nation. Sir, i will turn down your request because i am sure if Modi becomes the Prime Minister of India, you will soon be proud of my decision.
